There are two collections in the year: spring-summer and autumn-winter. When all the coming season's products are finalised, it's time for the class photo. There are two types of photo shoots:
Here we are going to tell you about the outdoor shoot that took place in November for the 2022 Spring-Summer collection.
Given we are taking pictures of Spring-Summer products, we need sun. Riddle: how do you go about finding sun in November? Answer: Go South! But the further you go, the more expensive and the longer the travel time is. The Holy Grail is South AfricaSun is virtually guaranteed there, but the budget explodes.
Damien, the Image Leader at Inesis, decided to do the shoot in Spain, in the region of Alicante. "Weather conditions are still good at this time of year, and Decathlon Spain has partnerships with golf courses on location, making life easier. We are also within the European Union, which avoids the hassle of going through customs when travelling with lots of camera video equipment and products."
We picked three golf courses on location for varying perspectives. Especially in terms of vegetation: we often find palm trees on golf courses in the South. It's nice, but it does not necessarily correspond to what we want to communicate when the pictures are online in spring-summer 2022. We are looking for pine forests!
A total of 11 people participate in this SS22 shoot:
"A shoot like this one is about 90% preparation and 10% shooting on location. Before going, you have to collect the products, update the visual style guidelines, write the brief and schedule transport, accommodation, golf course search, etc. Given the importance of the event, you need maximum preparation, leaving nothing to chance on location. We have to make full use of time on location to produce images. We were unlucky during this shoot because we had a day and a half of bad weather. But we had planned for the unexpected and were able to put in place plan B.
Once the shots are completed, there is still a lot to do. For a day of shooting, you need a day and a half of post-production, in other words, the selection and reprocessing of images, video editing, then publishing the visuals online on all the product pages. We hope you'll like the end result!"
