The 100 clubs were the starting point for the next generation of Inesis clubs. The 100 range for beginners (handicap >30), 500 range for intermediate players (handicap between 30 and 15) and 900 range for advanced players (handicap <15). Designed six years ago, the 100 clubs were slightly updated in 2019. For 2023, we've completely overhauled the design of the new 100 clubs. The Aim? To keep everything that made the 100 kit successful and improve the rest. Here we go.
The driver is a symbolic club that all golfers dream of making great shots with. It is also a difficult club to play with because it is the one where you stand furthest away from the ball. So we designed a driver with a short shaft, which will allow you to hit the ball with the centre of the face more often – this is the most important factor for generating good ball speed.
The driver is the club you use to hit the ball the furthest. The loft is the primary factor that influences distance. You must find the right compromise: too low and the ball doesn’t take off and you lose distance. Too great a loft and your ball goes too high, again costing you distance. 14° of loft is a good amount for the swing speed of beginner players.
The 100 Driver stands out from the crowd with its “spoiler”, this form that the designers have added to the bottom of the club and set back from the face. The benefits are twofold:
lowering the driver’s centre of gravity results in higher balls.
Also a perfect posture is guaranteed, which benefits alignment. You can put your driver behind the ball, take or change your grip – nothing moves.
The maximum volume allowed for a driver is 460 cm³. That's the volume of the 100 driver. And a big head makes for a more forgiving driver because it generates more inertia and its large face is forgiving of off-centre hits. You are more likely to hit the centre of the face, which is the best way to send the ball flying.
Instead of a 3 wood, a 5 wood has been developed for the 100 range. Why? Well, because with its very high loft (18°), it’s easier to play and lifts the ball more easily. Besides that, the 5-wood is the little brother to the driver, it has all its characteristics to provide forgiveness and power. You can play it at the tee-off when you want to cover a little less distance or be more precise than with your driver or right on the fairway.
The hybrid is so called because it is a combination of an iron and a wood. It plays like an iron, but provides the distance of a wood. It is therefore an extremely forgiving and versatile club that is ideal for beginner golfers. With its loft of 22°, it is a transitional club between the 5-wood and the 6-iron.
The 100 irons are designed specifically for beginners, something quite rare on the market. Usually you have a choice between cheap, not so nice, heavy and not so easy to play clubs, or more upmarket clubs for advanced players.
We wanted the 100 irons to be your best friend as you learn to play golf. But just because you're a beginner doesn't mean you shouldn't have well-designed and beautifully finished clubs. It has to be said!
Thomas, an Inesis designer, took on the challenge. He designed the 100 irons based on the 500 irons. His objective was to find the right compromise between reassuring shapes and fine lines.
The 100 irons are cavity back, which means that the back of the club is hollowed out so that the centre of gravity can be moved back for forgiveness
And yes, just because you're new to golf doesn't mean you don't have the right to have beautiful, rewarding clubs you can be proud of. That's why we've worked on the finishes and taken the nickel chrome mirror polish from the 500 and 900 series.
We wanted these 100 clubs to be highly forgiving. To achieve this, we made the club face wider. You will therefore have more ease hitting the centre of the face. This is important as it’s how you will get the best results in terms of precision and distance.
The 100 irons also have a significant offset, i.e. the head is slightly set back from the length of the shaft. It is a way to generate higher balls and limit slice shots.
With the 100 irons, the top part of the face has been cut off. We have taken away this weight in order to put it at the base of the club, where it is most useful. This lowers the centre of gravity, resulting in a more forgiving club.
The quality of a club’s positioning is a key aspect. It ensures perfect positioning, which benefits alignment. You can position your iron behind the ball, take or change your grip – nothing moves.
By definition, a wedge is different from an iron. It is used in a wide variety of conditions: from bunkers around the green, for approaches around the green, in the rough, etc. And yet, it's not uncommon for beginner wedges to be very open irons. Not here.
We have designed a specific wedge, different from the other clubs in the set. We've gone back to the 500 wedge, which has been unanimously approved by experienced players, and we've enlarged it to increase its forgiveness and give you more confidence at address.
It is a "cavity back" wedge, which allows the centre of gravity to be moved back as far as possible and helps the ball to take off.
It has a versatile loft of 56° to raise the ball up high, a very broad sole which makes it very versatile when playing from bunkers, for approach shots or full swings from a short distance.
UST Mamiya was asked to develop graphite shafts specifically for the 100 clubs. They are very light, with a low kick point, which produces high trajectories and good distance.
Putting represents half of the shots taken during a round of golf! The ingredients of a successful putt are direction and weighting.
AIM RIGHT
Two clearly visible black lines on the club enable very easy alignment.
CORRECTLY WEIGHTED
And to ensure that your putts are correctly weighted, we have selected a club head weight that has the peculiarity of being very forgiving of mishits. In other words, you always hit the same distance, even if you don’t strike the ball in the same place on the face of the putter head.
For a beginner, 14 clubs are really too many. Your swing is not yet well established and between two shots using the same club, you'll often find there is a difference of several metres. So it's better to have very distinct clubs to avoid too much dithering on the course.
With the 100 clubs you've got two options:
Whether you start with the 10-club set or the 6-club half-set, all 100 clubs are available individually in 2 sizes and in both right- and left-handed versions.
