The development of the new 2022 shoes is in its final stages:
Summary of the previous instalment: we worked with the co-creators on the idea of quick lacing for the MW900 shoes. We finalised a study on foot movement during the swing, which allowed us to tweak the design of the sole. And finally, we received the first prototypes of the shoes from the production factory.
The primary advantage of the Inesis Grip shoes, launched in 2018, was their maximum grip during the swing and when walking thanks to an innovative three-part sole. For the new range, we’re keeping this tried and tested sole concept. On the other hand, you have highlighted that we need to improve the longevity of the spikes. For our part, we chose to rework the look of the sole: the design no longer needs to imitate the classic sole with spikes. You now know that shoes without spikes grip just as well.

For WW500, the team have worked on a fully rubber sole. It’s flexible and lightweight with an excellent grip for dry ground. No worries about keeping them on after a round. They are perfectly suited.
The upper of the WW500 move in a smooth manner. To summarise, the Y-shaped part that surrounded the ankle and visually gave it lots of stability is transformed into something more dynamic and sporting, now providing a sense of movement.
This dynamism is also found in the midsole. The dimpled pattern on the Grip Dry is replaced by a smoother sole and “bumpers” – a kind of small protrusion designed to give the shoes a patterned profile and to suggest the comfort the customer will feel once they slide their foot into the WW500.
designed for playing in mild weather / in temperatures between 10°C and 20°C
With the MW900, we’re keeping the three-part sole concept: the EVA midsole for comfort, TPU spikes for grip during the swing and an exterior rubber sole for good grip when walking.
Mild weather is the most challenging. It can be a bit cold or a bit hot and can vary from dry to outright wet. This means that you need a shoe which is extremely versatile and capable of adapting to all situations. This is the job of the MW900.
Compared with the WW500, the major difference is its waterproofing. MW900 is capable of keeping your feet dry not only when the grass is wet, but also if you're playing 18 holes in the rain. You are going to tell me that this isn't obvious with the knitted aspect that is on the upper. The knitted component is what we call “knit”. It provides lots of flexibility and comfort. The secret to the waterproofing of the MW900 is a waterproof membrane enveloping the entire shoe. Invisible but a real barrier against rain.
At this stage the MW900 is almost finalised. We still need to define the choice of colours which are going to give the shoes personality. There is also an aspect which was part of the initial brief which will be revisited following the first tests: quick lacing. While the idea of tying your shoe laces quickly and easily is self-evident, the way to do so is not unanimously agreed upon. The “Tanka” system which was developed on the MW900 prototype will be replaced by more conventional but more universal laces. The choice for the wise.
