“The product manager's job is to observe and talk to as many golfers as we can in our chosen target so that we can understand their needs and come up with products to meet them.
For the 500 clubs, designed for intermediate golfers (30 to 15 handicap), we defined two main product benefits:
From that point on, my role is to coordinate my team of designers and engineers to bring the project to completion.”
Albert, Clubs Product Manager
"The designer's job is to create a physical representation based on the product manager's brief.
To achieve this, I start by looking for inspiration from a whole host of industries, such as automotive, watchmaking, aviation, architecture and, of course, golf.
Then, I draw up the initial sketches on paper. I do dozens of them, which I improve upon bit by bit.
Once I have settled on the essentials, I move on to computer-aided design."
Charles, Clubs Designer
“I use the designer's work to mock up a digital version of the clubhead, a sort of virtual sculpture.
Using my design tools, I can very precisely define the total weight of the head, determine its centre of gravity, weight distribution, etc.
This is the file used to create the mould for manufacturing the clubs.”
Cyrille, 3D Modeller
“As a product engineer, my role is to find technical solutions working alongside the production plant to fulfil the product manager's brief and the concept created by the designer.
On the 500 clubs, we used “hollow body” technology. This is where the head is hollow for maximum forgiveness and power while retaining the sleek appearance of a blade.”
