How to choose woods and hybrids

How to choose woods and hybrids
Woods are mostly used for distance shots, for teeing off and on the fairway.
Woods used to be made from wood, and you can recognise them from the large head, which is fairly round. A driver is a number 1 wood. It has the biggest clubhead. This club is used for teeing off. Woods come in sizes 3, 5, 7 and 9.
The more the club head weight is loaded to the rear, the easier it is to play, and more FORGIVING. With peripheral weight distribution, the club head remains steady on impact, even on off-centre shots. A lowered centre of gravity helps you give the ball more lift.
HYBRIDS are clubs that mix the features of irons and woods. They are easier to play, and replace long irons (#1, 2 and 3) which aren't very forgiving. They are mostly used when the ball is in the rough, where using an iron is particularly difficult. Hybrids are also known as "rescues", because they can help in a tricky situation.
Hybrids compromise the features of a wood (#5 or 7), with the same lowered weight distribution for FORGIVENESS, and long irons (#1 to 4), for their ACCURACY.
