How to choose irons

Irons are used for shorter shots than woods, and for approach shots. They are versatile clubs, and most shots can be played with an iron.

There are 9 iron sizes, numbered 1 to 9. The lowest number club will hit the ball the furthest.
On the head, a wide sole makes it easier to give the ball lift and results in a more FORGIVING club. A narrow sole gives a tighter trajectory and more PRECISION.

Choose an offset iron if you need more FORGIVENESS. Offset is quite literally an offset between the shaft and the club head to reduce unwanted spin.
Offset helps golfers to keep their hands in front of the club face when striking the ball, which means the shot has more chance of following through.

For more POWER, choose an iron with a lowered centre of gravity; if you need PRECISION, go for a higher centre of gravity.
